Houston, Texas – The first doses of the newly approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine to arrive in some Texas cities as early as tomorrow.
The Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed that the state of Texas will receive the first 24,000 doses in Tuesday and these doses will be distributed in Houston, Dallas and Arlington.
As early as next week, DSHS expects more than 200,000 doses to be available and delivered across the state.
Johnson & Johnson is the third vaccine to be approved in US. Almost four million doses of the vaccine are already being shipped across the states and first injections are expected Tuesday.
What differs this vaccine from Moderna’s and Pfizer’s is that this vaccine requires only one dose. Another thing is that this vaccine does not have to be kept in a freezer.
This means the newly approved vaccine will be easier to store and transport.
