First Day of Homeschool Printables and Traditions

Posted on the 09 August 2022 by Melissa Jiggetts @jiggettsmelissa

It’s that time of year again! The first day of homeschool is just around the corner. Are you ready? If not, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. To help make the process a little bit easier, we’ve put together a set of homeschool printables and traditions to help get you started.

First Day of Homeschool Traditions

Getting ready for the first day of school can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. To help ease some of the tension, why not start a new tradition or two? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

1. Have a special breakfast

Start the day off right with a nutritious and delicious breakfast. If you’re feeling extra festive, make a homeschool-themed breakfast like these back-to-homeschool pancakes.

2. Take first day of school photos

Capture the memories with annual photos on the first day of school. Don’t forget to document any changes, like a new haircut or missing teeth.

You can make this photo shoot even more special with a first day of school sign.

3. Make a time capsule

On the first day of school, have your child fill out an “All About Me” questionnaire about their hopes and dreams for the year. Store it away to be opened at the end of the school year or on their graduation day.

4. Start a tradition

What better way to start off the school year than by starting a new tradition? Whether it’s something as simple as reading a special book on the first day of school or taking a trip to the park, starting a tradition will help make the first day (and the rest of the year) that much more special.

5. Plan a fun activity for after school

After a long day of learning, your child is going to need some time to unwind. Why not plan a special activity for after school? Whether it’s making homemade pizzas, going for a bike ride, or having a picnic in the living room, make sure your child knows that there’s something fun waiting for them at the end of the day.
