In Karnataka, a 76-year-old man has been confirmed dead with corona virus. This is the first death in the country since the epidemic, with the death of the man who returned from Saudi Arabia.
At the same time, due to the spread of this disease, Delhi and Haryana government has declared it an epidemic.
All cinema halls, schools and colleges have been ordered closed till 31 March in Delhi. So far, the number of patients infected with the corona virus has increased to 77, although these include three cured patients from Kerala. There are 17 foreign nationals among them.
The Delhi government has also directed to disinfect all public places including government and private offices and malls.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that more than 500 beds are ready in Delhi hospitals. Empty government flats have also been kept ready.
At the same time, the Haryana Government has implemented the ‘Haryana Pandemic COVID-19 Regulation, 2020’ under the Pandemic Act 1897 and it will remain in force for one year.
The state health department had sent samples of 44 suspected patients for investigation till Wednesday. Out of these, 38 have been found negative, while the investigation report of six patients is yet to come. Four of them are from Gurugram and two from Panchkula.
Health Minister Anil Vij informed that 270 isolation wards have been created in the state. 1206 beds have been prepared in government and private hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry on Thursday released a state-wise report on the virus. It has confirmed the maximum number of viruses in 17 people in Kerala. 14 cases have been confirmed in Maharashtra, 11 in UP, while 6 cases have been confirmed in Delhi.
The Italian couple was undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur, out of which the woman has been declared healthy.
While the condition of the husband is stable. Treatment of other infected people coming into contact with them is being done at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
The highest number of foreigners are 16 patients from Italy and one is a Canadian doctor. Of the 16 new cases that have been reported, 11 are from Maharashtra, two from UP and one each from Delhi, Ladakh and Andhra Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the government is fully alert about the situation. He appealed to the people not to panic and take precautions regarding Corona virus.
The Prime Minister said in a message from Twitter that the government has taken many steps to protect the people of the entire country. These include increasing the capacity of healthcare to postpone visas. Foreign visits of ministers have also been banned. He advised people to avoid unnecessary travel.
The Ministry of External Affairs has also said not to travel abroad if it is not necessary.
As the corona virus is declared a global epidemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said that control can be achieved if all countries take steps to control it.
