All four of these abstract paintings have similar colors, theme and composition. I painted them in layers, with overlapping images and transparent colors that give them a collage-like effect. The theme is abundant life, with flowers, berries, butterflies, vines and leaves--all suggested in abstract form.
Here's the final step in the fourth painting. I added butterfly shapes in alizarin crimson and berry shapes in light blue violet.
Once I completed all the fronts and sides of these canvases, I turned them to a horizontal position and painted the tops and bottoms to match.
