Once upon a time, social networking websites and apps were primarily to connect with current friends or make new friends. But lately, I have observed another trend. With uncles and aunts and parents and even grandparents starting to use these apps and websites, they have become the means to reconnect. Yes, I am seeing my parents re-discovering and getting close once again to old friends. They may not have met since years, but Facebook and free messaging apps have brought them close once again. And as a result, believe it or not, I see my parents being more active in social networking then I am!

LINE recently introduced a new features for its users. This is called Find Alumni. And what it does is find the people who belong to the same school or college, thus helping users re-discover long-lost friends and classmates.
"With the launch of LINE Alumni, we hope to provide our Indian users with the ability to search for and bond with their ex-classmates and other alumni through LINE, which is a part of our commitment to help bring people closer together," said Mr. Damandeep Singh Soni, Spokesperson of LINE India.
To use this feature, just launch the LINE app, open the More tab and tap on the 'Find Alumni' button. This will open up a page where you can add your school or college. You can add up to three Alma maters and year of passing out. This should show you a list of people belonging to the same class and school or college.
I tried out this feature. Setting it up was easy. Unfortunately, it did not discover any of my school mates. And I completed my college studies through correspondence courses, that couldn't be much help either.
