Final Fantasy XVI May Be Revealed at PlayStation 5 Showcase

Final Fantasy XVI The PlayStation 5 showcase may be officially announced, according to a series of clues discovered by fans of the franchise.

Square Enix who was successful with the this year Final Fantasy VII Remake, reportedly worked on the next entry in the long-running RPG series Final Fantasy XV, which was launched in 2016. Final Fantasy XVI should be revealed in Sony's The Future of Gaming event, but the announcement has been postponed, according to Twisted Voxel.

Sony has another PlayStation 5 storefront in the works slated for September 16. Square Enix Producer and Final Fantasy Brand manager Shinji Hashimoto retweeted the announcement for the shop window, but then abruptly deleted it. This adds to the speculation that Final Fantasy XVI will be announced at the event as it may be too early Final Fantasy VII Remake 2.

Also an official Twitter account for Final Fantasy XVI was recently discovered. The account is currently set to private, but the email recovery settings appear to confirm that it was created by Square Enix.

Meanwhile, a tweet from Kinda Funny co-host Imran Khan added more fuel to speculation about an upcoming event Final Fantasy XVI betray.

It remains unclear whether Khan has any inside knowledge about this Final Fantasy XVI will be on the PlayStation 5 display case, or if that's just a guess.

Square Enix previously revealed Project Athia in Sony's June event for the PlayStation 5, but is expected to be either a new game or a spin-off from Final Fantasy XV. It remains to be seen if the mysterious project adds to this Final Fantasy XVI will be featured at the upcoming PlayStation 5 showcase.
