White is more than just plain white. Like many colors in the paint swatch book, white comes in a variety of shades and tones. There are cool whites with blue and/or gray undertones and then there are those delicious creamy whites with yellowish undertones. Some people feel an all-white room can look stark and uninviting, but you can create the opposite effect by layering different tonalities of white to create interest and dimension in a space. This early 1900's four-storey house in south London does this beautifully by using a nice range of whites throughout creating a delightful and welcoming ambiance. Granted, the amazing light in this home plays an important role in bringing out the different tonalities of this amazing color.
