Fiat Dornier G.91R/3 (Gina)

@ Speyer, Germany

December 2022

A visit to the Speyer Technik Museum revealed this Fiat G.91, an Italian lightweight tactical ground attack aircraft that first flew in 1956. This example wears the livery of the Italian flight demonstration team “Frecce Tricolori”, having utilized the G-91 from 1964-82. An order for Germany involved a licensed production run of 294 G.91s domestically constructed in Germany by Flugzeug-Union Süd, a consortium of Messerschmitt, Heinkel and Dornier. The G.91, nicknamed “Gina”, holds the distinction of being the first combat aircraft to be manufactured in Germany since the Second World War.
