Our Worst Nightmare Is Underway As Zombified Americans Are Unprepared To Protect Themselves And Their Families From Coronavirus

February 25, 2020Our Worst Nightmare Is Underway As Zombi...
By Susan Duclos - All News Pipeline
While ANP has recommended readers protect themselves as we watch the spread of the COVID-19 virus across the globe, we note that typical everyday Americans that appear to only get their news from the establishment media and believe what they are being told by them, are acting clueless, almost comatose and zombified as if there is no danger whatsoever to them, their families or their communities.
We have provided readers' recommendations, links for protection items, emergency survival food, suggested indoor year round gardening  along with books to learn how to grow food inside in case we have to hunker down long enough to use up all the emergency survival freeze dried foods.
One aspect of protections for ourselves and our families that we have not addressed is family that lives outside of our homes, especially those living in big cities, and how to help them if reports of COVID-19 coronavirus has spread to a city near them or worse, in their city.
While some would says each is on their own, others would be hard-pressed to deny safe haven to family or close friends that need a place to run to, but to offer help, while minimizing the risk to our own lives, there are home preparations and modifications that would have to be made before allowing anyone that has even potentially been exposed to enter our homes.
On Monday, Steve Quayle linked to an outstanding piece over at Survival Dan 101, dealing with setting up a home quarantine room, and some of those suggestions are incorporated below, along with some additional ideas.

Pick A Home To Set Up A Quarantine Room: If members of your family live in close proximity to each other , there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to set up multiple quarantine rooms in different homes.
Discuss it. Choose one home, preferably a house versus Aunt Betty's apartment where neighbors live on top of each other and it is harder to isolate anyone that has been possibly exposed to COVID-19 or any other virus.
This is smart for a number of reasons.
First: You are not chancing multiple homes having the virus inside, so it will be easier to keep contained.
Second: There is a much higher chance that there is another entrance/exit close to the quarantine room.
Third: Setting the quarantine room up becomes much less expensive because all working age family members can chip in for the items needed to set up the room. With only one room being utilized, no need to purchase the set up items for more than one location.
Fourth: A house has a better chance of having a garage, which if prepared properly, would be a great quarantine room and keep those possibly infected out of the house altogether.
For the purpose of this article, we would rather err on the side of caution, so we are assuming no garage quarantine room, for whatever reason.
Some ideas via the Survival Dan piece along with some of our own suggestions mixed in.
Drop cloths, duct tape: No matter where you set up your quarantine, you’ll want to get plastic drop cloths to help you limit the contagion. You’ll need enough drop cloth to cover the access to the room in curtain layers. Hang two layers at the entrance. One to enter the room, and then hang another curtain barrier with three feet of space between trap contagion. You may also like to cover the windows to keep the contagion from spreading or use a containment zipper at the entrance of your quarantine room. You’ll need basic supplies to set up your room within a quarantine room using drop cloths and securing them in place with duct tape. Remember duct tape has infinite survival uses!

You can also use thumb tacks or push pins to hang the plastic drop cloths, although I do agree with Survival Dan that duct tape can be used for a variety of things, so that should something everyone always has on hand as part of their preps.

Antiviral tissues: Antiviral tissues help limit the contagion with a moisture-activated layer that kills 99.9% of Cold & Flu Viruses. Having Kleenex on hand is a comfort, but having antiviral facial tissues is mostly important for reducing exposure to others.

We'll add other disinfectant wipes here as well, since constant attention to make sure hands, and surfaces are virus free at all times is critical to keeping any type of sickness or virus from spreading.

Gloves, Suits, and Biohazard Bags: We cannot overstate the need to protect yourself and your family. Gloves, suits and biohazard bags for waste or other items coming from within the quarantine room, is a must. They can always be used for other things should they not be needed for a sickness.

As far as the suits are concerned, not only should a supply be available for the caregiver, but enough disposable suits should be available for the patient or person in quarantine as well in case they have to leave that room for any reason.

Another suggestion from Survival Dan is the biohazard toilet.
Ensure your quarantine area has a toilet: Infected patients should have a separate bathroom and toilet, and this can be as simple as a camping toilet. The sick can’t do their business where everyone else does or they will spread the contagion and you can create a biohazard toilet or buy one. In addition to the sanitation supplies listed above, you need to set up a commode.

Other recommendations found at the Survival Dan articles includes, but is not limited to, sanitizing the patient before entering the house quarantine location, laundry considerations, medications, and a mini kitchen.
Read the entire piece here, because I want to focus my last point on those mini kitchens, which can be set up in the quarantine room, which limits the need for the caregiver to be constantly exposed to the person or persons in quarantine.

Mine-Kitchen: Obviously we are not talking about a full kitchen and all the appliances, but having a hotplate, a pot or pan, plastic utensils and paper plates that can disposed of after each use, paper or plastic cups, so remember a healthy amount of garbage bags!
This is when freeze dried foods will come in very handy, especially the powdered milk, eggs, and butter, which can be re-hydrated in amounts small enough just to use and there is no need for a refrigerator. Plenty of water to wash and cook to re-hydrate the foods.
Recommendation: Personally I would suggest staying away from products made in China where the coronavirus first originated.... just sayin'.

BOTTOM LINE
Many Americans are walking around absolutely clueless as to even the existence of COVID-19, and those aware of it mainly have no idea that entire cities are being locked down across the globe, people are being forced to stay home, banned from going out or being in gatherings, schools are being closed.... in other words, they have no idea how nasty this virus is, or how fast it has spread to dozens of countries already.
As with any type of event, preparation is key. If one plans and then prepares accordingly, then the stress of the possibility of being caught unprepared is nonexistent.
