LG’s G Pro was launched in Indian markets last year and was much liked by many. Now here comes its successor, the LG G Pro 2. On May 2, 2014, LG launched their latest G Pro device in Delhi.
“We launched the G Pro last year in the Indian market and received an exceptionally favorable response from consumers. Following the success of the G Pro, we are launching the new G Pro 2, with enhanced features, based on the feedback of our consumers. The year 2014, is going to be an exciting year, as LG plans to bring out a string of innovative devices, which will capture the imagination of users. By year-end, we intend to take on 10% share of the Indian smart phone market,” said Mr. Soon Kwon, MD, LG India.
G Pro 2 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS and comes equipped with LG’s much liked Rear Key feature and also Knock Code, in addition to several other new features. Let’s take a brief look at what it offers:
Hardware: G Pro 2 boasts of possessing the power of the Snapdragon 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Processor, the speed and efficiency of the ADRENO 330 GPU, 3GB LPDDR3 RAM and 3,200 mAh SIO+ Battery. In short, G Pro 2 can very well boast of being equipped with one of the latest and best hardware of the current day.
Dimensions and Appearance: G Pro 2 is a slim and sleek device. It is 157.9×81.9×8.3 mm in size and has a narrow bezel of 3.3mm. This narrow bezel helps in maximizing the display area. The curved back panel has metal mesh finish which provides better resistance to finger prints and smudges and can also help the user in gaining a more secure grip on the device. G Pro 2 also comes equipped with LG’s innovative Rear Key that makes it more convenient for the user to control the device..
Display and Sound: LG G Pro 2 has 5.9 inch full HD IPS Display. That is, it’s big and its bright and displays more genuine colours with better contrast.
The device is equipped with the Watt Hi-Fi Sound with Visual Mixer that promises to provide a studio quality sound at a greater range. It also gives the user the ability to control speed and tone. The LG G Pro 2 also comes with Quad Beat 2 headphones.
Camera: LG G Pro 2 has 13 MP OIS Plus rear camera and 2.1 MP Front Camera. The 13 MP OIS Plus rear camera claims to be able to capture bright and vivid pictures even in an unstable or low light using its Optical Image Stabilization plus technology. The camera is equipped with modified automatic exposure, noise reduction and frame per second functions. It can also shoot 120fps HD video, slow motion video, and 4K Ultra HD recording.
Another camera feature is the Natural Flash and Magic Focus. This gives the user an option of adjusting preferred depth of focus before the image is saved. There’s also a feature called Flash for Selfie. This runs the flash in a low light to help in taking a selfie.
Interesting Features: As said before, G Pro 2 has the rear key design for convenient handling of hardware keys. It also had LG’s latest Knock Code technology which provides a more secure way of locking the Lock Screen. This Knock Code is LG’s patented and a premium UX feature. It helps the user locking and unlocking the device using two to eight taps anywhere on the screen. These taps leave no visible trail behind, making it harder for anyone to copy the pattern. As per LG, there are 86,000 possible combinations that can be used to lock the device using the Knock Code.
Other features include the Dual Browser which divides screen into two separate windows for multi-tasking purposes. The Mini View feature causes the display to shrink and gravitate towards the palm for easier and more convenient one-handed control of the device. The Content Lock can help in securing files, photos etc for greater personal privacy. The Quick Window Case 2.0 makes available several functions like calling, clicking a picture etc. directly from the small window in the flip cover.
