Featured: Shelby of Chasing Birdies

Hello Rock Me Fabulous followers! I'm Shelby from Chasing Birdies. I blog about my personal life and the things that I love, one of the more important parts of my life is my love of golf. Just four short years ago, I told my parents that I wanted to start playing golf. They were completely shocked -- no one in my family plays, and I had never touched a golf club in my life. After a few weeks of me asking, they realized that I wasn't going to give it up. We bought clubs, signed me up for a lesson, and the rest is history.
This was not an easy choice, however. I had only one month to learn as much as I could before high school tryouts. Have you ever tried golfing? It's HARD. That was something I don't think I fully understood until I started. I played JV my whole freshman year, but my coaches could tell I had potential. It was up to me to continue practicing hard.
Sophomore year, I started out in JV again. Not for long. I shocked everyone with my low scores and by the end of the season, I had a spot in the middle of the varsity line-up. I placed 6th at the final tournament, and won an all-conference award. After many lessons, long days of practicing, and a whole new set of clubs, junior year came in full steam. I played at the top of the pack the whole year, winning multiple medals and an even higher all-conference award. The team made it to state, and we broke the school record.
There are days when I'd like to give up golf. I think everyone has days like that. Things get difficult, I have a bad week, and I feel like everything is hopeless. But then there are the good days; the ones where I break a personal record or shoot the lowest score on the team. Those are the days that make every practice worth it.
