There are many brands out there ready to work their magic on your pet; it is just a matter of choosing which to buy. Some have branched out from supplying for one animal alone and provide products for more.

Panacur are an example of this and have a sensible range of wormers for horses and for dogs. Their Equine Paste is for the treatment and control of adult and immature roundworms of the gastro-intenstinal tract in horses and other equines. The paste can be mixed in with your horse’s food or syringed directly into their mouth. Similarly, Panacur Liquid Guard is available and is sufficient for a five day treatment schedule.

For dogs, Panacur have created granules or paste for mixing with the food or administering directly into the mouth respectively. As well as providing general roundworm control and treatment, the formula also has an ovicidal effect on nematode eggs. For adult canines it also aids the treatment of tapeworms and for puppies it treats those infected with protozoa. It can reduce prenatal infections of Toxocara canis and its transfer to their puppies via milk in pregnant bitches and is also beneficial for the treatment of dogs infected with lungworm Oslerus osleri or protozoa Giardia.

Alternatively, there are many companies who focus their entire research and product on one animal. For example, Drontal Plus claims to kill more varieties of roundworms and tapeworms than any other wormer. These dog worming tablets which are easily digestible and the dosage guide is clear with the amount of tablets recommended depending on the weight of your dog. Also available is their Drontal Puppy Suspension which is suitable for puppies and young dogs up to one year of age for the treatment and control of roundworms, Toxocara canis in particular and it can be effective against hookworm and whipworm alongside this. s kept to a minimum. You can simply add more if your dog is still hungry, whereas with wet food pouches food can be left over and will have to be thrown away!

Horses
There are many more varieties of both dog and horse wormers and many have the option of being administered directly into their mouth or given to your pet with their food which many people prefer if they are unsure as to how their pet will react to it.
