Feast of Fife - Day Two of the Fife adventure

View day one of my Feast of Fife here. On day two, this was the sight I woke up to! 😍

Catchpenny Safari Lodges

Sleep in the wild without being wild at Catchpenny Safari Lodges. Nestled on the coast with gorgeous views over the Firth of Forth, if you don't relax sitting here, then I don't know what to do with you!

We picked up supplies from Ardross Farm Shop, a short walk from Catchpenny Safari Lodges (more on that below).

Bowhouse Market

We'd been meaning to visit Bowhouse Market for what seems like forever and now I got the chance to visit. It really is worth the trip. Get out for the day, buy some bits at Bowhouse and then find a spot for a little picnic. It's not all food, there are stalls with jewellery, pottery and all sorts of goods from Fife.

Check out the local wildlife! Thankfully they don't spit!

I'd recommend the cheese and leek loaf, perfect slathered with butter...or try the curry and sultana loaf for something a little different.

Of course, I had to buy some Red Beer beer from Caronoustie to keep Mr Foodie happy.

Fancy some Langoustine? Then Langoustinethebox have you sorted. Fresh pick up or get them delivered to your home. Will need to give this a try.

The next market is Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July, 10am-4pm.

Ardross Farm

Just along the road from Bowmore Market and Catchpenny Safari Lodges is Ardross Farm Shop. Fill up your shopping bags with home-grown goodies (check the size of the carrots below) Unfortunately I didn't get any of the Ardross Farm meat to try, that's for next time when I have more bags and time, and well, Mr Foodie to carry it!

Lunch in Crail

Stroll from Crail's beautiful restored high street (choose your favourite quirky seaside cottage) via Crail Pottery down to the harbour and its seafood shack 'The Lobster Hut'. Grab yourself a picnic bench, bring along the wine and salads (and all the extras you need from Ardross Farm Shop) and grab yourself a crab roll or a plate of lobster and set yourself up for a picture perfect lunch in the sunshine. Crail's foodie reputation continues with the award-winning Crail Food Festival which takes place in the village every June. After lunch walk out along the Fife Coastal Path south from the village for a fantastic view back over the harbour.

Camboe Estate

I'd never heard of Camboe Estate until a visit to Kingsbarns Distillery among the road. It's a beautiful place, peaceful and gentle. Lots of walks, hidden areas and see if you can spot the pigs!

The gardens are picturesque with different sections reflecting varied themes.

Cambo Estate is well known for its snowdrop display, and is worthy of visits throughout the year.

Nosebag Cafe

After all that walking around it was time for some well-earned cake. The Nosebag Cafe has a wide range of food available from soups to stovies with, of course, lots of home made cake.

The prices are good, food excellent and staff friendly 👍

Nosebag Cafe is within Camboe Estate.

Thank you to everyone involved in the 2018 Feast of Fife trip. Find out more about Fife here: http://www.welcometofife.com

Disclaimer: The weekend was a fully funded press trip but as usual, Fred has provided the Kitty seal of approval and confirmed the veracity of the above.
