Hepatic steatosis another name for fatty liver in which fats get accumulated in the liver. When there is a small amount of fats present in the liver than it is a normal health condition but too much accumulation of fats is considered as fatty liver. In human body, liver is the second largest organ that processes nutrients from food & drink that we consume. Its function is to filter harmful substances from the blood. There are mainly two types of fatty liver diseases one is known as an alcoholic fatty liver disease that develops when someone drinks a lot of alcohol. Another is a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease that is due to not drinking a lot of alcohol but including excessive fat in your diet. The wrong lifestyle is the main reason for it.

What are the Signs & Symptoms of Fatty Liver Disease?

Fatty liver patients face the problem of pain & discomfort in the upper right side of the abdomen. The signs & symptoms related to fatty liver diseases are:

The causes of fatty liver are when too much fat is stored in the liver cells. Drinking too much alcohol is the reason for fatty liver disease. But the other factors that play an important role in developing the fatty liver disease are high blood sugar, obesity, high levels of fats, insulin resistance, & medications like amiodarone injection, tamoxifen, amiodarone oral, & methotrexate.

What is the Ayurvedic View of Fatty Liver Disease?

In Ayurveda, fatty liver disease is correlated with “Yakrutodar roga” in which the abdominal cavity causes distension of the abdomen “Udararoga”. Agni (digestive fire) plays an important role in the manifestation of this disease.

What is the Ayurvedic Treatment for Fatty Liver Disease?

There are two types of vasti named as anuvasna vasti & niruha vasti. Anuvasna vasti is (oil enema therapy) in which herbal oil is administered through the anal region for removing extra fats.
