#FathersSonsAnxiousGhosts by @JamieAdStories

By Pamelascott

Three guys in their thirties have something in common. Their children all go to the same school. One day a tragic event leads to them having to deal with a lurking aftermath which draws them into each other's lives and causes them to rethink their attitudes to just about everything.

The children tell the second part of this story, ten years after the initial events. The dust seems to have settled until one of them uncovers information that throws everything back into chaos.

The third part... well that will have to wait.

I enjoyed this novella for the most part but there are a few things that didn't quite work. I enjoyed the story overall; it was intriguing and kept me guessing as I tried to work out what was going on, why Michelle had died so suddenly and with seemingly little warning and what secrets the fathers were hiding. The book is split into three sections, the fathers narrate the first section detailing a tragic and event and the aftermath. The second section is set ten years and is told by the sons and set ten years later when the repercussion of tragedy are still felt. The third section is a single chapter narrated by a ghost. Yes, a ghost. The age of the sons seems off. In the first section they should be 5 or 6 years old and come across as teenagers and seem in their thirties in the second part which is set ten years later. This was a bit disjointed. The language is a bit clunky at times. However, this is an enjoyable read for the most part.
