Fashion Inspiration: Actress Lupita Nyong’o

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

Lately, I’ve become enchanted by a woman whose grace, style and beauty just draw me in: Lupita Nyong’o. She’s an actress that’s gaining accolades for her role in 12 Years a Slave.  Although her parents are Kenyan, she was born in Mexico and given a Mexican first name. In a recent interview with Yahoo! she stated that her bi-cultural upbringing has “gotten me into a lot of trouble: Kenyans want to claim me and now Mexicans do, too.” That would make Nyong’o the first Mexi-Kenyan to be nominated for an Academy Award. She has a smile that lights up her whole face. Her sense of style is fun to watch and I admire how she embraces color rather than shying away from it. Without a doubt she’s been getting more attention in the fashion world since she wore that gorgeous off-the-shoulder red Ralph Lauren gown for the Golden Globes earlier this month. She was easily the best dressed woman on the red carpet. That dress complemented her in every way, as she’s very statuesque. On that night, she rocked!

I’ve put together a collection of pictures of Lupita wearing stunning dresses. She’s definitely one to watch, whether she’s wearing a gown or a knee-length dress. She uses just the right amount of makeup; it enhances her beauty without distracting from her choice of dress. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that she’s a natural beauty.

I’m going to end this post with Lupita in another red dress. To me, red is her color.

Well, what do you think? Don’t you just love Lupita’s style? She exudes so much confidence. I look forward to watching her in future performances.
