I had a lot of fun reading Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I was curious after seeing the movie which actually has a very loose connection to the book. This is a book for Harry Potter fanatics. It offers nothing of interest to anyone else. Some of the beasts are familiar and feature in the books and movies, either prominently or they're referenced. Other beasts I'd never heard of. The black ink illustrations throughout are well done as well. There is a hardback illustrated edition of this by Jim Kay who illustrates the other Harry Potter illustration editions as well so this might be worth checking out as the art-work in the other Harry Potter illustrated editions is gorgeous.
