The Atlanta Hawks are the latest NBA team to use NFTs as a method of fan involvement, and they’ve increased the incentive for fans to attend on a particular day.
Web3 is a major affair in Atlanta
As the NBA regular season winds down, teams are considering ways to express their gratitude to fans for another year of support. The Atlanta Hawks have designed an excellent approach to express gratitude to fans during the team’s last regular-season game of the 2021-22 season, and it is certain to thrill a significant number of fans.
The Atlanta Hawks have had considerable success in recent seasons, owing in large part to the team’s star, Trae Young. On Friday, March 25, 2022, the Atlanta Hawks announced that they would have a fan appreciation night prior to their last home game against the Washington Wizards on April 6, 2022.
Melissa Proctor, the team’s Chief Marketing Officer, shared the following details about the team’s next fan appreciation night:
“Fan Appreciation Night is one of the ways we can express our gratitude to our fans as we try to develop home-court advantage at State Farm Arena.”
If you’re a Hawks fan, you should consider attending the Atlanta Hawks’ home game against Washington on April 6, 2022. A NFT collection is one of the limited-edition gifts provided exclusively to fans in attendance at the game.
On Monday, April 4th, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. ET, a “NFT 101 Twitter Space Conversation” moderated by an Atlanta Hawks official will teach you more about NFTs.

The Atlanta Hawks will introduce their “Forever 404” NFT collection on fan appreciation night, which includes “spirit the Hawk” and a digital ticket to commemorate the occasion. The digital commemorative tickets will be handed randomly to game attendees, with a tiering system based on their rarity.
Among the digital commemorative tickets offered are starter, all-star, MVP, and legend. They worked on the NFT collection in collaboration with GigLabs, an Atlanta-based lab that previously partnered with the NBA team on the “Harry the Hawk” NFT collection.
The presents do not stop there; each player on the team will give a jersey to a fan of their choice as a sign of thanks for sticking with them through good and bad times.
In Atlanta, demand for Web3 space is strong
The Atlanta Hawks are not the first team located in Atlanta to dabble in the NFT/metaverse sector, which may come as a surprise. The Atlanta Braves, Major League Baseball’s team in Atlanta, made headlines earlier this year in the metaverse. They were the first Major League Baseball team to join the metaverse when they developed a digital replica of their stadium, Truist Park, as well as adjacent structures.
As sports teams and leagues see the value and potential of NFTs and the Web3 space, we will see an increase in the number of teams, leagues, and sports entering the Web3 space.
