Climate change is increasing the demand for heating as well as cooling. Air-conditioners and heaters are heavy users of power, and new ideas as needed to reduce the consumption of electricity.
Inspired by nature, the fan Flair was invented. Biomimicry strives towards sparking ideas which are clean, green and sustainable. Nature has improved upon their designs for billions of years and nature uses as little materials and energy as possible to get the job done.
A problem with many fans is that they are noisy. Noisy fans are a sign of ineffeciency. Some fans on the market can be used for both heating and cooling but they are noisy and inefficient. In the winter, warm air accumulates near the ceiling while in the summer, cooler air sinks to the floor. So in the winter, you sit in the colder air while in the summer, you sit in the warmer air.
Human design is often based on the principle that straight lines are the best. Nature uses vortices, or whirlpoos, which are virtually friction free.
