Colorblocking is everywhere for Fall and I love it. I am so over everything having stripes. I never have figured out how to wear stripes sell. But when the stripes come in the form of thick colorblocking trend, I’m in! Â I’m currently in love with all things Michael Kors and Tory Burch.
Tips on how to look fabulous while wearing a colorblock styled piece? Here are a few:
- Pick a single color blocked piece. If you find a fabulous sweater, make it your focal point. Don’t add other items that. Compete for attention. Pair some dark skinny jeans and minimal accessories to look your chicest.
- Keep hair sleek when wearing color blocked items. It may seem weird, but when you go for something as bold as a colorblocked dress or sweater, everything else needs to remain as simple as possible. Adding flouncy curls to the mix somehow dates the look. Don’t question it. Just accept it and throw your hair into a chignon or ponytail with some silkening pomade for extra shine and you will look like you just fell off the runway.
- Finally, keeping everything else super classic helps keep the look right on trend ironically. Pairing leather boots and simple pearl earrings and no other jewelry completes the look with an air of perfection.
Bottom line: don’t compete with anything that is colorblocked. Let it own the stage.
