Originally published in February, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was given to PlayStation Plus members as a free monthly gift. First off, the bright colors and fun theme make you think this game is probably just another no-brainer. However, this game has received a lot of attention on social media and PlayStation members have raved about it ever since. And to think we're only playing the first season!

The game is a battle royale for 60 players. You will take part in several random mini-games against other players to see who can make it to the end of each level first.

Menu items

When you first start the game you'll find that it just throws you in. There are a few pages of tutorial information, but it's also easy to just skip through and go straight in. The main menu offers many options that will become more apparent as the game progresses. You can press R1 switch between different menus.

The first button you come across on the main menu is, of course, Play. Here you can press triangle to invite your friends to play, and X. kick off. The next page is clothes, where you can see what your character has in their closet. That way, you can put them on as ridiculously as possible.

There is also the performance menu. If you win games and keep playing, your character will be awarded a purple praise. Every time your character reaches a new level, you will be given either clothes, colors or patterns to change how your character looks.

You can spend the praise and crowns that you win per game and level in the shop. There is a time limit on how long items stay in the shop. So if you see something you like and you have the praise and crowns for it, be sure to get it!

Know your buttons

The buttons are a bit strange to get used to with this game for two reasons. The first is that there are shockingly few buttons to press. I expected there would be more buttons than there were, but was surprised there were only three. The second is because it was easy for me to forget which buttons to press and what. I kept pressing circle trying to dive. Although you can change the buttons in Settings, I just waited until I got used to it.

The jump button is pretty simple, just press it X. leap. Hit for diving Square, and to snap other players, press R2. That's it.

Grabbing other players is a great way to get them to slow down or knock them out of the level. Character throwing is a great way to ensure your own victory. It's also a great way to stop other players from winning when you know you can't.

Diving can also be an essential button that you shouldn't forget. You can jump over obstacles and opponents, or make one final rush to the finish line.

Different levels require different approaches

Fall Guys: A Beginner’s Guide to Reaching the Finish Line

There are some games Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is driven through. Much of these games are single-player racing games so far, but there are some games that require you to work as a team with a handful of other characters. In total, the game initially had 24 levels when it was first launched, with a new level with a major patch added in August.

Racing level

In total, this game offers nine different racing games. This allows players to work individually and run to a finish line. Although each level requires a different level of focus and rhythm, each level has a variety of obstacles and challenges to face. For some races you can reappear on the map, e.g. B. Gate Crash or See Saw. However, there are some that if you fall will not make you come back. So keep that in mind.

These are the race levels:

to survive

Six of the games are survival based, which means you just have to survive longer than anyone else. This is an all rounder that encourages players to make sure everyone around them is at a disadvantage. It's the perfect time to practice throwing other players off the edge.

These are the survival games currently available:

team

Team games are arguably the most difficult in Fall guys. The irony is that these games aren't difficult because they are difficult. Instead, they are difficult because you have to work with a team that you have no communication with. You need to watch out for what other players are doing and watch out for them.

In autumn ball, for example, it is important that there is a goalkeeper and two defenders, while everyone else can play offensively. This is the case when a stray soccer ball rolls back towards your goal and someone has to be there to stop it. So keep an eye on your surroundings.

These are the current team games:

final

These levels mean the end of the game series. There are currently only three of these, so you can easily keep track of them in the end. These levels are specifically designed to sort out all but the very last player.

Watch out for hidden falls

Fall Guys: A Beginner’s Guide to Reaching the Finish Line

This was probably the hardest part of the game: remembering where the gaps are in each level. It's easy to get lost in the flow of things. Unfortunately, going blindly through levels like Hit Parade will lead your little character straight into a huge fall.

Slow down while playing and do not rush. Although you want to cross the finish line, getting to the end first doesn't really matter unless you are in the finals. It is better to actually get over the finish line for the first few laps than to be the first to cross the finish line. Take your time, especially with the first few rounds. You will get to the end as you pace up and down and keep an eye on your surroundings.

Avoid large groups in order to win

One of the biggest problems with this game is the number of people. In many Battle Royale games, players are spread out on a map. This gives you space to explore and achieve the goal with little effort. Unfortunately, Fall guys it is not like this.

One of the best ways to make sure you make it to the end of each round is to avoid large groups of people. It can be difficult to jump over and dive past large groups. Often times you will try to overtake these large groups but end up falling. Because of the way the characters are made, a small fall could result in a major fall off a cliff and your disqualification.

Make sure that there is plenty of room for large groups of players and try to find another way around obstacles that will avoid these large groups. You will be grateful that you did it.

Beware of babysitters

Fall Guys: A Beginner’s Guide to Reaching the Finish Line

At every level I played there seemed to be a couple of babysitters just waiting. Be careful with these guys and don't get too close as you near the finish line.

Some of them either have friends they want to see over the finish line or they are just there to disappoint you by being the last person to cross to win. I even had the unfortunate experience of nearly Crossing a finish line when another player grabbed me and let someone else cross first. Sure, I think the advantage is that the guy who grabbed me didn't qualify for the next race either. On the other hand, I was definitely not happy to have finished a good race this way. So be sure to watch out for these guys.

Side note: don't become a babysitter yourself unless you want to be viewed as an idiot by everyone else playing with you.

do not give up

This seems like a given, but it still feels like it should be said. The most important part of this game is that every loss means something. Every time you fail, stand up and try again! Find out why you didn't qualify for the next race or why you fell off the platform.

To be really successful at this game you just have to keep trying. Getting discouraged and quitting is the only way you'll really lose. It can be difficult to push your way through small, closed rooms while 59 other fools are trying to jump through the same door, but if you keep trying you will eventually get through the door!
