This Warthog was photographed during my visit to the 2011 Andrews AFB Joint Services Open House. I gladly admit that the aesthetics of this aircraft took time to grow on me and I do find it photogenic now. The A-10 entered service in 1976, and is the only USAF production-built aircraft designed solely for close air support, attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets with deadly efficiency. Barring political cancellation of the aircraft, a program is underway to extend the lifespan of the aircraft past 2040. Nikon D300 w/300mm, processed with Aperture.
