“School Girls” / Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea / December 2012
They were all in high spirits as we waited for the plane for Port Moresby. Most of them were leaving Bougainville for the first time to go to a university in the capital. Being very close friends in high school, somehow they sensed that, while the prospect of a new life in a big city was exciting, this flight could mark the beginning of living separate lives in school and this group hug could be their last.
