Facebook launched their gaming creator portal on a .GG domain. The country code for Guernsey has become popular for esports. Facebook is using the domain name FB.GG.

Some background:

Wikipedia info .gg is the country code top-level domain for the crown dependency of Guernsey, including the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Jethou and Lihou (plus several uninhabited islands and islets). The domain is administered by Island Networks, who also administer the .je domain for neighbouring territory Jersey.

Morgan Linton wrote an article earlier this year on .GG and why it’s being used by gamers.

Morgan wrote:

In the eSports world, branding on a .GG is actually seen as a bit more hip and cool than .COM so many of these teams and tournaments aren’t making a push to get their .COM and likely won’t anytime soon. As many of you know, I still think .COM is without a doubt the best investment grade domain name out there, but in the eSports world at the moment .GG is king.

VentureBeat covered the launch of FB.GG:

Facebook is hoping its Gaming Creator portal, FB.GG, will get even more people to watch broadcasts like Havlock’s. Users can browse according to which games they’re interested in, and it also serves up suggested livestreams based on users’ interests.

“You’ll notice it looks a bit similar to news feed, but at the top you see gaming-specific content, both for gaming video and for our games platform, Instant Games,” said Facebook product manager Nick Miller. “You have your streamers that are currently live, or games you follow, at the top for quick access. Things you engage with all the time and actively follow. Then there’s what is essentially a feed, where you can scroll through and see all the relevant content that maybe you missed, or that you don’t know about, that you’d also be interested in. That could be video. It could be news articles. It could be other games.”
