The video shown below is extremely graphically violent as Syrian rebels behead what is purported to me Syrian priest François Murad and two other men, while those standing around scream Allahu Akbar, meaning "God is greater" or "God is [the] greatest."
Fides News Agency, news agency of the Vatican, confirms the death of François Murad, while stating that he circumstances of the death are not fully understood.
"Let us pray," writes the Custos of the Holy Land Pierbattista Pizzaballa OFM " so that this absurd and shameful war ends soon and that the people of Syria can go back to living a normal life." Archbishop Jacques Behnan Hindo, titular of the Syrian Catholic archeparchy in Hassaké-Nisibis reports to Fides: "The whole story of Christians in the Middle East is marked and made fruitful by the blood of the martyrs of many persecutions. Lately, father Murad sent me some messages that clearly showed how conscious he was of living in a dangerous situation, and offered his life for peace in Syria and around the world. "The video below is not of news accounts where the worst of the violent beheadings are blurred, this is the full version and before starting the video, please be sure no children are within viewing distance.

Recently it was reported that Barack Obama "authorized sending some U.S. weapons to Syrian rebels for the first time as a part of a new package of military support to the opposition in the fight to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad." That decision is being questioned by members of the U.S. Congress.
