Extra co-host Mario Lopez is currently on a tour of Israel, where so far he has visited the Sea of Galilee, the Anunciation Cathedral, Mount of Beatitudes, and Via Dolorosa.
Lopez has been documenting his trip to the Holy Land with his followers. As he reconnects with his faith, the actor and TV host even got baptized in the Jordan River.
“We are at the Jordan River where John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ. I’m about to get baptized,” Lopez said. “It’s a beautiful day. There’s a really cool Catholic priest that’s gonna do me the honors. And there’s a sermon going on right now. So I’m going to join these fine folks and then, bam! It’s on!, the TV show host tweeted.
On Palm Sunday Lopez spent the day in Bethlehem, and visited the Wailing Wall, Jewish people consider the Wailing Wall, the holiest place in the world. Check it out:
For Mario Lopez, religion and his faith have always been an important aspect of his life. He goes to church every Sunday with his family, and if for some reason he is not able to, he makes sure he lights a candle in any church later that day or in the week.
“I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve just tried to build a more spiritual muscle in a business that is very unpredictable,” Lopez told Fox News. “It’s nice to have something that is consistent in our life – family and faith is that for me.”
