Experimental Food Society Spectacular 2012 comprises of three parts; a two-day exhibition followed by a ‘British Icon’ themed banquet and talk.

Exhibition
Butter sculptors, food landscape artists, food magicians, food futurologists, conceptual food model-makers – yes they all exist! Make sure you don’t miss the Levitating Susan, a sculpture that lifts food into orbit and floats it so that guest can literally pluck the item out of the air, Kyle Bean’s edible weaponary including jelly grenades and toast knuckle dusters, a five foot pasta replica of the Rialto Bridge by Carl Warner and Paul Baker and Dr Gaye’s Super Shake that is an elixir containing more than every single vitamin and mineral in a balanced daily diet.

Banquet
This will be a unique and surreal multi-sensory experience for just 120 guests inspired by all that is great about Britain. A five-course menu designed by the Experimental Food Society in collaboration with Paul Bates will be accompanied by a range of interactive food related experiences as well as a tailored soundtrack courtesy of The Broken Hearts.

Talk
Taking place at the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of the V&A Connects series titled ‘British Food Artistry’ the Experimental Food Society will take guests through some of the works of art unveiled at the exhibition, the processes undertaken to create them and what it means to be a British food artist today.
