Experience Bollywood at ‘Housefull’

By Rohit Dassani

Housefull is a complete vegetarian restaurant located in Seshadripuram, Bangalore. The theme of the restaurant is ‘Bollywood’ which is evident as soon as you enter the outlet. A large painting of Amitabh Bachchan welcomes everyone inside. The walls are all filled with Bollywood quotes and artifacts. They even play Bollywood songs all day long. The restaurant serves South Indian, Punjabi and food from Mumbai. We visited this place to have a sneak peak into their new Indian breakfast menu served on Sunday’s.

The breakfast menu at Housefull comprises of some of the classics breakfast items that is served in our homes. We tried some of the beverages like the Watermelon Juice, Apple Cinnamon smoothie, Ginger Carrot Juice and Blueberry and Banana smoothie. The juices are simple with no added flavors or sugar. The Ginger Carrot Juice was amazing and a must try! Both the smooties were delicious. Go fo the Blueberry and Banana smoothie as the flavors were new.

When it comes to classic breakfasts how can we forget the South Indian classic – Dosa, but with a slight twist. The Chilly Cheese Dosa had loads of cheese and green chillies. The Pepper Dosa was my personal favorite as it had a semi gravy of bell peppers and black pepper. The taste was out of the world, don’t miss! The Gunpowder Dosa was great as well as the dosa was topped with Gunpowder. The dosa’s are served with tomato chutney. Go to the North, we had the Aloo Cheese Paratha and the Paneer Paratha. Both the paratha are served with mint and tomato mustard chutney. The flavors were spot on!

One of the things we were looking forward was the Puri with Potato Bhaji or Chana Masala. The dish comes with puri and gravy of your choice. Both the Potato Bhaji and Chana Masala were sumptuous. Loved it! Will go back to Housefull for the Puri bhaji. Next we had the Paneer Bhurji Bun, the bun was topped with paneer bhurji. A bit dry for my palate.
