So in my quest to re launch myself as artist & designer, I have been taking an interest in the abundance of creative souls in my local area. For such a small town in the suburbs of Paris (measuring only 1.7 km across), my town has at least 3 decent sized creative arts spaces that i know of, offering everything from theater & dance, photography, sculpture and painting workshops and exhibitions. That is not including the artist workshops i keep stumbling across, offering a chance to buy work or participate in courses and “art therapy “ classes. I am constantly finding new and interesting places where i could potentially improve my skills or even show my work -its all about the networking you see.
I was very impressed today by the little building, hidden away from view: the Espace Chiffers where I saw some amazing watercolours, that depicted scenes of hidden nature, private moments captured in time and mysterious, secret locations. I have seen many watercolours, but something about these ones were different, I dont know, they were more opaque than im used too and I guess captured a feeling in me….I was also very impressed when i took a sneak peek inside the sculpture workshop - I may just have to sign up for classes!
Never underestimate the hidden culture in you local area, keep an eye out in local newspapers, newsletters, pin boards etc and you may just discover a secret world of like mined people.
