- Android Authority received another video of the upcoming dual-screen LG Wing in action.
- This new video, recorded at the same time as the first, shows the Wing in a game mode.
- The video gives us an idea of how game developers could leverage the phone's secondary display.
Earlier this week, we released a leaked video that appears to be a near-definitive version of the upcoming LG Wing. This video showed a driver using the wing's primary display for navigation while using the secondary display for a music player and taking calls.
Now our tipster has sent us a second video. In this video, the passenger of the car uses the wing to play a racing game in a different new orientation, this time with the second screen on top. The main screen in landscape mode shows the full screen game and controls on the screen, while the sub screen shows a route map. While we haven't seen anything to confirm this, it seems reasonable that other elements in the game, such as a rearview mirror, could also appear on the second screen in this way.
LG Wing: An interesting way to get closer to a gaming phone
LG has already launched phones with optional secondary displays, most recently the LG V60 and LG Velvet. Gamers have adopted these phones specifically for dual display functionality, which gives them more space for on-screen controls and other secondary elements of mobile gaming.
However, on the LG Wing, the secondary display space is much tighter as it appears to be a 1: 1 ratio and about half the size of the main display. However, this video shows how game developers can still make good use of this smaller screen. The idea that a racing game's progression card doesn't clog valuable real estate on the main display makes perfect sense here.

We can think of many other fun ways to use the secondary display. One of these would be a battle royale game like Fortnite, but all of your character stats and weapon selections will be shown on the secondary display. Conversely, you can simply move the minimap (which is currently in the upper left corner of the display in Fortnite) onto the secondary display of the LG Wing. This would give Fortnite players a serious advantage as they would have a bigger map and better see opponents on the field.
Interestingly enough, people emulating a Nintendo 3DS on their phone would love this too, as it would essentially turn the phone into a makeshift 3DS. Again, we're not sure how much developer support this would take (or if LG can secure it), as these ideas are a little more complicated than just displaying a completely different app from the original navigation video.
When does the grand piano come and how much does it cost?
We assume that the LG Wing will be launched on the market before the end of the year, possibly as early as October. As for pricing, we don't know anything you don't know, but it doesn't seem like the phone will be cheap.
