The Excise Department generated a revenue of Rs.227 billion in 2024.
The target set by the Government for the department was Rs.232 billion. During the 12 months of 2024, the highest revenue was achieved in December, with a total of Rs.26 billion. Conversely, the lowest revenue was recorded in May, amounting to Rs.14.3 billion.
In April, the department generated a revenue of Rs.23.1 billion, followed by Rs.20.3 billion in August and Rs.20 billion in November. The spokesperson of the Excise Department mentioned yesterday (2) that achieving the revenue targets has been challenging due to the rise in illegal alcohol consumption.
