Governor Seyi Makinde has designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of Oyo state COVID-19 Task Force.

This is necessary after Governor Makinde’s COVID-19 test result came out positive.

Engr Makinde announced this in a series of tweets on Monday, March 30.

“I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully,”

The governor advised residents to continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force.

“Stay home, stay safe,” he said.

Two days ago, following the recommendation of the National Center for Disease Control, the Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde went into self isolation.

He had said it was necessary as all the governors who attended a meeting in Abuja had been advised by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to isolate themselves. He also promised to make the result of the test known to the public.

“All the governors who had contacts with some of the people who have it have been advised to isolate themselves. The governors forum advised us to do so,” he said on Fresh FM radio programme Ibadan.
