Everyday Magic

It seems impossible at the moment, given the political climate and overarching unease in my beautiful home country, not to discuss the General Election in the UK this week. I for one did not sleep until past 3am for fear of waking up to awful news and yet, it wasn’t all terrible. We did something pretty solid during this campaign! I’m not about to turn this platform into a serious place for politics and nor am I here to tell you what you should or should not be doing but I personally cast aside some of my own views in order to serve the many. My admittedly hopeful Labour vote to unseat the Tories didn’t affect the final outcome of my constituency but my LORD has it helped to tell the older generation that us millennials don’t just sit around, we care about our future and our neighbours’ future and our position eventually sadly beside the EU and about our families in years to come. Hot damn did we make our voices heard.
About a week ago, I swanned off up to Lincoln to see my little sister finish University and we, of course, did the obligatory hike up Steep Hill. And in typical Mish style, I only went and did it in my adorably awesome scalloped edge suede mules. Block heel and all. This girl can. Or something like that. I reached for some old faithfuls in the wardrobe; this Bardot style top from Topshop and my plisse pleat culottes. Some kind of everyday magic happens when these two unite, I swear. I just love the airy fairy, floaty aesthetic and how a block heel grounds the look entirely. It turned out to be the perfect non-silhouette, non-tailoring look to spend an hour or so wandering Lincoln Castle and musing over all of the beautiful architecture. There’s just something so elegant yet effortless about the off-shoulder cut that’s got me all Cheshire Cat this season.
