Tontine hidden lane comes alive with The Bird Cage at Tontine
Tontine Lane, hidden away in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City, is the place to be this summer for all things chicken. The 'secret' lane, snuggled away between Bell Street and the Trongate in the Merchant City has been much neglected since the popular Heverlee pop up in 2015
It's back and this time the gates to the lane will be open to host all sorts of fun. From pop up dining to King Putt's Crazy Golf. The lane promises to be transformed into an animated environment with art installations, cinematic projections, music, stalls, and the re-illumination of the Turner prize winner Douglas Gordon's 'Empire' sign.
The Bird Cage
From 1st August until 12th August 2018, the lane will be all things CHICKEN! Chicken on the Spit - BBQ Chicken - Buttermilk Fried Chicken - Pulled Chicken - Roast Chicken - Everything Chicken. I think they like some chicken.
King Putt's Crazy Golf
One of the attractions confirmed is a free, public, Crazy Golf Course on a disused site in Glasgow's city centre. It has been designed in collaboration with a number of local artists and community groups across Glasgow. The crazy golf is constructed from the city's recycled rubbish. This is artwork that is fun but to provoke discussion on access, exclusion and our impact on the wider world.
