5 Course Moët Chandon Champagne Dinner at The Finnieston

What's better than sun? A sunny evening with good food and champagne! The Finnieston recently held an evening with Moët Chandon which consisted of 5 Courses with 5 Glasses of Champagne including two from the award-winning 2008 Vintage, for £60 per person.

Have you been upstairs at The Finnieston? It's cosy and rustic with a great view of the Finnieston strip. The sun was flooding through the windows, the champagne was chilled and we were ready for a great evening.

Course 1: trio of Cumbrae Oysters.

Tempura oyster with kipfler purée, a natural oyster, with caviar and an applewood smoked oyster with Moët & Chandon Imperial Champagne granita. - Paired with a glass of Moët & Chandon Imperial Champagne

Our faves were the tempura oyster. Even if you don't like oysters generally, try one cooked, they taste different - and oysters and chilled champagne go together quite well👌

Course 2

Smoked Perthshire venison haunch, confit duck egg yolk, pickled dark fruits, croutes and thyme - paired with a glass of Moët & Chandon Imperial Rosé Champagne

Wow that confit egg - I'll need to learn how to do that! Delicious. Creamy egg, tart fruit and smooth venison. I'm unsure the rosé stood up to the venison, it went well with the fruit though.

Course 3

Pan-seared fillet of John Dory, clams, pancetta and Vintage Champagne Chowder with sea vegetables - paired with a glass of Moët & Chandon 2008 Grand Vintage Champagne

This was a perfectly matched course. The 2008 Grand Vintage champagne tasted more like a "real" wine and less of a champagne, the depth of flavour was noted.

Course 4

Choux pastry chocolate éclair, macerated Coupar Angus strawberries, rosé Champagne jelly, crème chantilly, strawberry wafer and crème Fraiche ice-cream - paired with a glass of Moët & Chandon 2008 Grand Vintage Rosé Champagne.

Crisp and fresh glass of rosé paired with a lightly flavoured dessert.

Course 5

A specially chosen cheese board from George Mewes of Byres Road - Paired with an iced glass of Moët & Chandon Ice.

Great cheeses on the board here served with Moët & Chandon Ice which has been developed for hot summer days. We specifically liked the 1924 blue and Durrus Irish sheep cheese.

This was a most enjoyable night. Finding new flavour combinations and discovering how tasty a Grand Vintage can be. The Moët & Chandon Ice would be superb in the garden with a book, or get the girls around for some drinks and chat.
