Light Up, Light Up, Help Find A Glasgow Guardian of the West End Christmas Tree
Expect live choirs performing on stage, a pop-up Christmas market and one big tree, which can mean only one thing; Byres Road is having a Christmas celebration!
Organised by the Byres Road and Lanes Business Improvement District, the organisation behind Visit West End, their Christmas tree light switch on is bringing together the best shops, buckets loads of gifts, oodles of Christmas carols and a sprinkling of festive cheer, as Vinicombe Street is set to sparkle as the background for the inaugural Christmas on Byres Road event, which will culminate with their twenty-foot Christmas tree lights being switched on by a celebrity guest and the guardian picked by the public.
As Christmas is about giving, Visit West End is getting into the festive spirit as they wish to award one Glaswegian the coveted status of Guardian of their Christmas Tree and turn on their sparkly lights, alongside a special celebrity guest.

They are calling for Glasgow to enter any deserving individuals who they think deserve the inaugural pleasure of lighting up Vinicombe Street. Anyone can enter or be nominated, perhaps you know a person who is unbelievably kind or caring, maybe they've fundraised, dedicate their life to helping others, or maybe they've just had a bad year, and this would brighten their spirits, all entries are welcomed.

A panel of judges will then choose one winner. You can enter up until November 21st
Sunday, 27th November marks the start of a week-long promotions period for Byres Road, which leads up to the global Small Business Saturday (Saturday, 3rd December) - which encourages the public to shop local.
Their team of volunteers will be handing out free booklets at the Christmas event highlighting star gifts, experiences and offers for many of the West End shops, restaurants and services.

The celebrations begin at 12 noon with a fantastic Christmas market featuring delicious food and hot drinks from The Hill, crafts from Janet & John, Shearer Candles and a Makers Market Pop Up Shop.
There will also be brilliant jewellery on show from The Nancy Smillie Shop, gifts and cookware from Papyrus, on trend fashions from Pink Poodle, baked goodies from Rawnchy Desserts and lots more.
To get you in the festive spirit, a live music showcase is planned from 2pm with local choirs and performers taking the stage. Voicebeat, GUMC Choir and GUMC Chamber Choir will dazzle with their choice of Christmas carols and songs. A list of performers and stage times will be posted closer to the event.
