Following her appearance on The National’s ‘Where is Her Head’, Eve Owen has signed to 37d03d, the collective set up by the Dessner brothers and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and is set to release her sublime debut single ‘She Says’ on 19 November. Eve has played a number of live shows with The National and is now gearing up for a UK tour with former Wild Beasts man Hayden Thorpe.
Opening up with gentle piano notes and an atmospheric soundscape, the song opens with Eve saying ‘Hold on tight, she says, hold on tight, I’m coming’ as a loved one comes to offer comfort and solace: ‘Baby girl, she says, baby girl, don’t panic, it will be alright. Please don’t cry’. She then goes on to say she won’t lose hope or faith as the sound moves somewhere in-between Ben Folds’ more introspective moments and Julien Baker’s heart-on-the-sleeves poignancy before finishing with an abrupt piano drop.
