EV powersports startup Volcon announces pricing for Stag and Beast side-by-sides

Not long ago we covered the debut of a new all-electric powersport brand called Volcon, and while we were making fun of the name of their first product, a two-wheeled off-roader called the gruntWe were really excited to see what else the company could come up with.

It turns out there was a pair of side-by-side electric units next, which we have prices for starting Tuesday. The first of the two is more utility and practical and is called a stag. The stay has a range of around 150 miles, 300 pound-feet of torque, and has a top speed of 70 mph - all for $ 14,995. This makes it a reasonably attractive price-performance ratio compared to similar gas-powered models.

Next up is a much more gnarled, sporty side-by-side called the Beast, which offers double the stag's torque, a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 150 miles. It's also zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds so you don't have to worry about keeping up with your friends on their gas powered UTVs. The beast brings you back much more than $ 24,995.

Both the deer and the beast are slated to go into production in late 2021, which fits into the next part of Volcon's announcement. It recently acquired 53 acres in Austin, Texas for its manufacturing headquarters. To enable that expansion, the company turned to a unique crowdfunding platform called WeFunder, which actually offers equity for investments starting at $ 1,000.

The Volcon Grunt should reach customers by spring 2021, which should set the tone for the future of the company. If Volcon is able to get the Grunt to market at its advertised price and with reasonable quality, it could be proof that there is room for broader electrification in powersports, and that would be pretty cool.
