Actor Ethan Hawke - best known for his work in indie and horror films such as Creepy, The Purge, Daybreakers and Before Sunrise - has finally joined the Marvel Cinematic UniverseAccording to reports. Hawke signed a contract with Oscar Isaac Marvels Moon Knight series for Disney PlusAccording to The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline on Friday.
Hawke will reportedly play the main villain. Although the name of the character Hawke would play is not yet known, Moon Knight's oldest nemesis in the Marvel Comics is a villain named Raoul Bushman, another mercenary who betrays Moon Knight for Egyptian gold.
Isaac plays the lead role Character from Marc Spector, whose superhero name is Moon Knight. The MCU superhuman criminal and former mercenary / CIA agent has multiple personalities and was empowered by the Egyptian god Khonshu.
Actor May Calamawy (Hulus Ramy) was also announced as part of the cast this week. The character that Calamawy will play in the new series has yet to be revealed.
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have joined the series as directors along with Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab. Jeremy Slater of the Umbrella Academy has been hired as chief writer.
Moon Knight was first announced on the D23 in August 2019. The show is expected to start filming in Budapest from March, but it is not yet known when the new series will appear on Disney Plus.
Disney and Marvel didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
