The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued its verdict on the case of the return final (EST-WAC) of the African Champions Clubs League on the afternoon of Wednesday, 31 July 2019: The EST is crowned African Champion.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has unveiled its verdict on the return final of the African Champions League between Esperance of Tunis and Wydad of Casablanca.
After receiving the files of the two groups and listening to their representatives, the CAS awarded the title to the “Blood and Gold”.
On 5 June 2019, the African Football Confederation decided to return to the second leg of the African Champions League final between East and West Africa after the withdrawal of the Moroccan team to protest against the VAR.
According to CAF, this decision was taken for security reasons.
The return match ended with a result of (1-0) while the first leg was settled with a draw (1-1).
