My first sighting of an Epic E1000, seen here departing San Carlos Airport on a wet day. First flown in 2015, this aircraft was developed from the Epic LT kitplane. In November 2019, the carbon fiber design obtained FAA type certification with an 80 aircraft order backlog. Plane & Pilot magazine named the E1000 their 2020 plane of the year. Current pricing of the E1000 is over $4M. Epic’s goal was that the E1000 would be the fastest single-engine civil aircraft at its time of introduction.
