Being in the midst of summer means lots of heat. If you're anything like me - summer probably isn't your favorite season. Why? Because it's always HOT!! Who enjoys being hot, right? I know I don't. There's really nothing worse than being hot and sweaty all day long. It's miserable and it's no fun at ALL! Having an air conditioner helps, but not if you can't move it with you (if you don't have central air.)
I was asked to review the HPN12XCM 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner from Haier. Not only is it portable, it also comes with a remote. This air conditioner has three cool and fan speeds so that you can find the right one for whatever room you're in. You can also choose between Cool, Fan, or Dehumidify modes, using just this one unit. Cool, right?
If you're not going to be home for a few hours, you can use the unit's timer to start the air a few minutes before you get home, to have your home nice and COOL, without having to have it on all day. The timer is a full 24 hours, and will turn it on or off at any time that you set it to.
The fan on the Portable Air Conditioner can be adjusted four ways, so that the air can reach you wherever you're sitting, standing or working. The unit can be easily installed in any window, and has casters on the bottom for easy movement whenever you want to move it. This unit also has no bucket to empty. The water vapor evaporates automatically.
The Installation Process
Installing the Haier HPN12XCM 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner was a super simple process and it took under five minutes to do, which isn't too bad. To install, simply open your window and place the provided window panel into your window. Adjust the panel to fit the width or height of your window. Then secure your window panel by securely tightening it with the provided screws. Once you've finished this step, close your window, attach the hose, and you're all set. How easy, right?
The Unit Itself
So what about the cooling ability? This unit produces very COLD air, and I mean cold. This portable air conditioner is a beast when it comes to tackling the summer heat. It's seriously colder than the air from my central cooling system. And, it cools a normal size room pretty quickly. I was super surprised at how cold this unit gets, it's colder than ice, well it's not that cold, but you get the point. Also, the operation of the unit is much quieter than expected, it's not low, but it's not super loud either. This unit is amazing and it's the perfect companion for anyone who's looking to keep their home cool this summer.
