English Teacher have shared new single ‘Albert Road’ ahead of the release of their debut LP ‘This Could Be Texas’ (out on 12 April via Island Records).

The ballad opens in sparse and introspective fashion as Lily Fontaine opens up about how it feels to be a mixed-race individual in an increasingly intolerant and divisive nation: ‘Don’t take their prejudice to heart. They hate everyone. The world around them never showed how loving can be fun’. There are elements of latter-day Los Campesinos in the way the song builds and Amanda Palmer in the vocal delivery, and you can hear the passionate defiance in Lily’s vocal as she declares ‘that’s why we are how we are’.
