EMMY WATCH: Guest Actor/Actress In A Drama

Posted on the 17 June 2014 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

First off, in the Guest Actor category, Beau Bridges is expected to make a splash for his role in Masters Of Sex. Dan Bucatinsky is a front-runner again for Scandal. He’ll have to face off against fellow castmember Joe MortonNathan Lane could hear his name in the drama category for The Good Wife. Other Good Wife contenders are Dylan Baker, John Benjamin Hickey, and Michael J Fox.

Mad Men is bringing David Morse, Harry Hamlin, James Wolk, and Ben Feldman to the table. Pedro Pascal could score a nom for Game Of Thrones. Parenthood is entering both Ray Romano and Jason Ritter. Walton Goggins would be an uncharacteristic choice for Sons Of Anarchy. Eddie Izzard would be interesting for Hannibal.

Pablo Schreiber might get noticed for his creepy turn on Law and Order SVU, Reg E Cathey for House Of Cards, Louis Gossett Jr for Boardwalk Empire, Michael Rappaport for Justified, James Woods and Elliot Gould from Ray Donovan, and Michael Bowen for Breaking Bad are all longshots.

Personally, I’d pick Bucatinsky, Morton, Morse, Wolk, Goggins, and Schreiber.

I think Emmy’s will pick Bridges, Bucatinsky, Morton, Lane, Morse, and maybe Schreiber.

For Guest Actress, Allison Janney will get a nomination for Masters Of Sex. Diana Rigg should be a contender for Game Of Thrones. Carrie Preston leads the Good Wife contenders. Margo Martindale is always popular, this time for The Americans. Lisa Kudrow might get a nomination for Scandal. Jane Fonda is in the running again for The Newsroom.

Marcia Gay Harden is also in for The Newsroom. Other potential contenders: Kate Burton for Scandal, Julianne Nicholson for Masters Of Sex, Kate Mara for House Of Cards, Shirley MacLaine for Downton Abbey.

Longshots: Gillian Anderson for Hannibal, Patricia Arquette for Boardwalk Empire, Debbie Allen for Grey’s Anatomy, Charlotte Rampling for Dexter, Khandi Alexander for Scandal, Constance Zimmer for The Newsroom, Drea de Matteo for Sons Of Anarchy, and Alicia Witt for Justified.

I would pick Rigg, Kudrow, Burton, Preston, Martindale, and Rampling

Emmy voters will go for Janney, Rigg, Preston, Kudrow, Fonda, and perhaps Anderson will surprise. I think Martindale will miss out this year.
