Emmy Watch continues. Anna Gunn is a lock for Breaking Bad. Christine Baranski is a safe bet for The Good Wife. Maggie Smith has a better shot than the rest of her Downton Abbey cohorts this season (including Joanne Froggatt).
The Game Of Thrones castmembers Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Natalie Dormer, and Sophie Turner will likely turn out at least one nomination (not necessarily for Clarke).
Michelle Monaghan is a strong contender for True Detective. Sandra Oh is back in the running for Grey’s Anatomy. Bellamy Young is a favorite for Scandal. Christina Hendricks and January Jones are still in the mix for Mad Men.
Monica Potter is less likely for Parenthood, and Archie Panjabi’s time has probably passed for The Good Wife. Betsy Brandt might score the second Breaking Bad nomination in the category. Melissa McBride has to be a serious contender for The Walking Dead, even if Emmy voters hate the show, they have to love her.
Longshots… Jennifer Carpenter for the final, uneven season of Dexter. Hayden Panettiere for Nashville. Danai Gurira for The Walking Dead. Emily Mortimer for The Newsroom. Annet Mahendru for The Americans. Kelly Macdonald for Boardwalk Empire. Morena Baccarin for Homeland. Molly Parker for House Of Cards. Caitlin Fitzgerald for Masters of Sex. And finally… Maggie Siff for Sons Of Anarchy.
My picks would be…Bellamy Young, Sandra Oh, Melissa McBride, Maggie Siff, Danai Gurira, and Maisie Williams. Maybe one of these will get nominated.
Actual nominees will probably be… Anna Gunn, Christine Baranski, Michelle Monaghan, Bellamy Young, Christina Hendricks, and I’ll be bold and pick Melissa McBride over Maggie Smith. I think if people watched McBride’s submitted episode, there’s no way they can’t pick her.
