Peter Dinklage, who has won this category before, has been making a very strong case for himself again this season on Game Of Thrones. I’d expect to hear his name called. Additionally, this is the last time to nominate Josh Charles for The Good Wife, and he might hear his name called. It’s also the last time to nominate previous winner Aaron Paul as well as castmate Dean Norris for Breaking Bad.
Mandy Patinkin could be in the running for Homeland. Jon Voight is well respected, and could get nominated for Ray Donovan. Jeffrey Wright might get Boardwalk Empire’s only acting nomination this year. Mads Mikkelson is a critical darling for Hannibal, but can he get any Emmy love? Peter Sarsgaard was arguably the best thing about this past season of The Killing, but will it translate into a nomination?
Jim Carter is in the mix for Downton Abbey. Noah Emmerich should pick up some votes for The Americans. Nikolaj-Coster Waldau will get some votes for Game Of Thrones. Charles Dance might even get some Emmy love for GOT. John Slattery should get some for Mad Men. Walton Goggins for Justified?
Longshots? Tony Goldwyn for Scandal. Ron Perlman and Jimmy Smits for Sons Of Anarchy. Michael Kelly or Gerald McRaney for House Of Cards. Jack Gleeson and Aidan Gillen for Game Of Thrones. David Morrissey or Norman Reedus for The Walking Dead.
I personally would pick Dinklage, Norris, Perlman, Kelly, Morrissey, and Reedus. Wild picks, I know.
Emmys will probably come for Dinklage, Paul, Norris, Charles, Voight, and maybe Wright. As a wild card, I’d say Emmerich, since there’s a huge push happening for The Americans. He might ride that wave.
