EMMY WATCH: Best Miniseries and Best Movie

Posted on the 18 June 2014 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

As more and more networks produce “limited series”, or “anthology” series, this category is becoming more and more interesting. FX stands out in front with two guaranteed nominees, American Horror Story: Coven and Fargo. Luther is a strong contender, as is Starz’s Dancing On The Edge. The White Queen is possible, as is Bonnie and Clyde. The Hollow Crown could break into the category.

Longshots include The Red Road, 24: Live Another Day, Hostages, Mob City, Klondike, Rosemary’s Baby, and Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond.

I would nominate Coven, Fargo, Luther, Bonnie and Clyde, and Klondike.

Emmy voters will go with Coven, Fargo, Luther, Dancing On The Edge, and Bonnie and Clyde.

For the best movie category, The Normal Heart is a lock. The Trip To Bountiful is a front-runner. Sherlock: His Last Vow should score a nomination. The other spots could go to Killing Kennedy, Burton and Taylor, Clear History, Flowers In The Attic, or Return To Zero. As a longshot, HBO also has Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight.

I haven’t seen enough of these to nominate myself, but I think Emmy voters will go with Normal Heart, Bountiful, Sherlock, Clear History, and Killing Kennedy.
