The 2022 MTV VMAs are just three nights away, and this year’s show promises a combination of newcomers and veterans performing on the main stage. On behalf of the veterans, two renowned rap legends join forces for a memorable performance which spans the continental United States. Eminem and Snoop Dogg pair up for their duet “From the D 2 the LBC.”
The joint venture marks the initial time the rappers have performed at the VMAs in over a decade. Eminem last took the stage for “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” in 2010, as Snoop Dogg lately linked up with a video from late rap legend Notorious B.I.G. in 2005 to perform “Juicy” and “Warning”.
Plus its title making a literal connection from Em’s home of Detroit to Snoop’s Long Beach, California, “From D 2 the LBC” is also notable for its inspiration from the metaverse world of Otherside. MTV teamed up with Yuga Labs to help with this run.
Presently, Snoop Dogg and Eminem are both nominated for Best Hip-Hop category for the song, that is their initial cooperation in over 20 years and the second single of Em’s second-highest-hit album, Curtain Call 2. Previously, they featured on the single They joined in 2001. “Bitch Please II”, an iconic song from The Marshall Mathers LP. Eminem is now the second-most nominated artist in VMAs history with 60 nominations, trailing just behind Madonna, who has 69.
Em and Snoop join a lineup of previously released acts: Bad Bunny, Global Icon Award recipient Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient Nicki Minaj, Jack Harlow, Blackpink, Lizzo, Måneskin, Kane Brown, Anitta, Panic! at the disco, and much more. So be ready to watch your favorite take over the Garden State on Sunday night, August 28th.
