Synopsis
Lila was nineteen and going off to college, she hated to leave her family and friends behind. She had the perfect life; she had two best friends whom meant the world to her. She had a great boyfriend, she cared a lot for him and was worried about what would happen once she left for NYC and left him behind.
Although Lila and her boyfriend had been friends for years before dating, she suspected he was unfaithful. It hurt her more than she thought it would when she catches him in the act and found out it had been going on for months. The one person she thought, would never be there for her was now her rock. This man she never thought she would feel anything for was now whom she admired, and wanted in her life. What was going to happen once she left?
Lila was excited when she seen a familiar face in NYC and had met new ones. It couldn’t get any better, she had met great friends and stayed in contact with the man she had fallen for. Things change when tragedy leaves Lila feeling broken and not knowing where to turn, when she has lost two of the most important people in her life. What is she to do now that all her dreams where fading. Could she move on and be happy, or should she just give up hope.

MY REVIEW
Embracing Love by Delisa Lynn is a 2013 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in conjunction with a virtual book tour.
After Liam's parents both die of cancer within a year of one another, he moves in with his Aunt and Uncle and two cousins. His cousin Addison's best friend Lila catches Liam's attention and never lets go. For Liam it was love at first sight.
Lila and Addison were best friends, almost like sisters. Lila liked Liam, but it was Addison's brother Ashton she had feelings for. Liam watches from the sidelines helplessly. Addison and Liam have both warned Lila that Ashton is not the best she can do. Lila has to find that out the hard way.
Just as Lila finally wises up and realizes what a good guy Liam is, he joins the military and she goes off to college. The long distance relationship is hard to maintain. Lila meets Evan, a guy with a difficult past and the two hit it off. They are only friends, even though it's plain Evan would like it to be more.
Two events take place that bring Lila and Evan together in a way Lila never intended. Now she is in the worst position you could imagine. Liam is MIA and Evan is reliably right by her side as she is for Evan when he gets bad news from home. Lila is torn while searching for Liam's birth mother and for Liam, while struggling with her feelings for two men. But the worst is yet to come....
I have read several New Adult romances that I really liked and a couple of them I just couldn't relate to. I am older than the targeted audience and so I am prone to find the actions of the characters a little too immature. In this case the story begins with Lila's last year of high school as she faces new challenges and life lessons. Liam was the most mature of the entire group and totally blameless in all the things that took place. He is a long suffering guy that loved Lila no matter what happened or what she did.
Being in love with two men is not an new concept and sometimes it works and sometimes not. I didn't find it to be true to Lila's mostly loyal character to have found comfort with another man just because her boyfriend was out of the picture. If the hook up had taken place during the time she became aware Liam was MIA , OK, that would be understandable. But, the way it all unfolded left me disappointed with Lila . Even after all the she and Liam have gone through she still couldn't do the right thing. It was a lose/ lose situation for all of them. Liam was the only one that could look at the situation philosophically and with a pure heart. But, he is still not getting what he deserves from Lila. This story looks like it will continue in another installment, which would be a good thing. I would like to see all these characters end up with a satisfying happy ever after.Overall I will give this one a B-

Hearts are broken and love is tested. Affairs continues, accidents happen and life changes. In
