Elon Musk calls for ‘break up’ of Amazon

Elon Musk has called for the "breakdown" of the technology giant Amazon, following a dispute over a coronavirus e-book.

The entrepreneur came to the defense of an author after Amazon Kindle's editorial division rejected his book on the coronavirus pandemic.

Musk tagged Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in a tweet, saying the decision was "insane", adding: "Time to dissolve Amazon."

Amazon has stated that the book was removed in error and will be restored.

The author of the book, Alex Berenson, caught Mr Musk's attention by tweeting a screenshot of Amazon, which told him that his book on the pandemic did not comply with its guidelines.

"They censored it!" Berenson wrote. "It is based entirely on published government data and scientific articles. It does not say that the coronavirus is not real or does not kill people."

Musk criticized government policies during the coronavirus pandemic.

He previously described the arrest warrants as "fascists" and threatened to move Tesla's headquarters out of California when a production facility could not reopen.

Musk and Bezos are rivals in a race to make space travel more convenient.

Musk founded SpaceX eight years before Bezos founded his Blue Origin missile company.

Last year, Bezos criticized Musk's hope for creating a colony on Mars.

According to Business Insider, he said: "My friends who want to move to Mars? I say that you are doing me a favor: go and live on the top of Mount Everest for a year earlier and see if you like it because it is a garden paradise compared to Mars . "
